The class has been learning about animals in Science class. They have been learning vocab like habitat, herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore. You can "quiz" you child at home and ask them what all these words mean, and have them give you some examples.

September Public Library Visit
Today (9/3/15) was our first trip to the Coal City Public Library. September is Library Card month, so Ms. Rene talked to the kids about getting library cards and all the great things you can do with that library card. After the story, the kids made a bookmark, helped with a few library chores, then checked out books.
I know we are all excited to go back in October for another awesome visit!

End of 2014-2015 school year!
I still can't believe we are on summer break, but here we are! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer thus far. I been kind of busy, but I'm still finding time to chill out and relax.
I didn't get a chance to post Olympic Day and last day of school pictures, so here they are! :)
Olympic Day turned out to be a beautiful weather day. All the kids did a great job in all the different events. One of my 5th graders was in the finals for the bean bag toss. The Vicious Garden Gnomes (the name Mrs. Gernenz and my class picked) came in 2nd in the tug-of-war and 2nd place (by 1 point) in 4th grade. They kids had a great time on Olympic Day!
On the last day with students I said good-bye to 3 great 5th graders; two of whom I have had since they were in first grade. I'm so excited for them to go to the STEPS program at the MS because I know they are going to love it! I wish them all the best at the MS!
Good luck to my three 6th graders! I'm looking forward to seeing my returning kiddos in August! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe summer!! :)
