First community trip of school year!

We had our first community trip of the 2015-2016 school year today, and it went very well!  McDonald's for lunch, then over to Berkots to do a little shopping.  The kids were working very hard on having "listening ears, watching eyes, and thinking brains."  We talked a lot about how busy the streets are, and how we need to have all those things to stay safe.  We also need to have those things when ordering our food and shopping at the store.

The kids bought the ingredients to make apple nachos!  Peanut butter, chocolate, and apples....how can you go wrong with that delicious combo?!?

When you are at the store with your child (time pending), have them help you find the items on your list.  Have them help count out money at the register.  When you are out to dinner sometime, have your child order his/her own meal and have them help count the money for the bill.  The more the kids practice, the stronger their skills will be for adulthood.

Have a wonderful weekend!

September Public Library Visit

Today (9/3/15) was our first trip to the Coal City Public Library.  September is Library Card month, so Ms. Rene talked to the kids about getting library cards and all the great things you can do with that library card.  After the story, the kids made a bookmark, helped with a few library chores, then checked out books.
I know we are all excited to go back in October for another awesome visit!
